We have a vibrant and enthusiastic Ladies section, with approx 75 members of all ages and golfing abilities.
We have competitions every week through from March to October on Saturdays with additional competitions on some Sundays and Wednesdays. For those brave enough to face the elements there is the Winter League to contest.
Cochrane Castle Ladies also participate in the Greenlees League, which was formed to bring together the best players allowing them to compete head to head for the prestigious Greenlees Trophy. We are very proud that we have won this prestigious event three times in the last 4 years and are the current Division 1 champions. We of course are looking forward to the 2007 campaign where we hope to retain the trophy.
There is the additional participation in the West Renfrewshire league with a strong contingent representing Cochrane Castle Ladies in Renfrewshire County golf as well as recognition in the National Ranks.
It’s not all golf of course, our thriving social events on and off the course provides an excellent way to wind down and relax, make new friends, and enjoy being part of Cochrane Castle Ladies section.
Our Ladies Open Competition this year is to be played on Wednesday 23rd May. This event is well supported by Ladies from all over Western Scotland .
Cochrane Castle was well represented at the W est Division women’s inter-county team golf championship 2006 at East Renfrewshire Golf Club. Gillian McGinlay, Donna Jackson and Kate O'Sullivan helped Renfrewshire Ladies to a clean sweep by defeating Lanarkshire, Dunbartonshire and Argyll. Renfrewshire Ladies advanced to the Scottish Finals at The Hirsel Golf Club, Coldstream but were unsuccessful in trying to win the championship for the first time since 1987.
